Temperatures, rain, fog and the Northern Lights differ on every map. Find the hottest, coldest and most atmospheric maps.
Each Cities: Skylines map has its own climate. On every map page you can see the daytime and nighttime temperature range, the temperature during rain and fog, and the probability of each atmospheric event.
Warm maps
Warm and desert maps give you bright, dry scenery. The maps with the highest maximum daytime temperature:
- Asanu Beach 40°C
- Cavern Coast 40°C
- Desert Oasis 40°C
- Diamond Coast 40°C
- Garden Rivers 40°C
Cold maps
Cold maps are the choice for a winter city. In cold climates, heating becomes something you need to plan for. The maps with the lowest nighttime temperatures:
- Frosty Rivers -30°C
- Frozenshire -30°C
- Icy Islands -30°C
- Snowy Coast -30°C
- Winter Hills -30°C
The Northern Lights
On some maps the Northern Lights can appear at night. The chance differs from map to map. The maps with the highest probability:
- Frosty Rivers 50%
- Frozenshire 50%
- Icy Islands 50%
- Snowy Coast 50%
- Winter Hills 50%
Rain and fog
Every map lists the probability of daytime and nighttime rain and fog. These events change the look of your city and are great for screenshots and videos. Compare the exact percentages on each map page.
Picking a map by climate
- Cozy winter city: choose a cold map with a chance of the Northern Lights.
- Desert or beach city: choose one of the hottest maps.
- Balanced look: most temperate maps sit between these extremes.
